Vancouver Coastal Health is on the lookout for a committed Public Health Engineer to become a vital part of our proactive Environmental Health team. We are dedicated to enhancing and safeguarding the health of our community.

Position Summary:

Contribute significantly to the protection of public health and safety through the implementation of Public Health Engineering principles. Key Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and endorsing construction initiatives in accordance with the Health Act, under the supervision of the Medical Health Officer.
- Acting as a Drinking Water Officer in compliance with the Drinking Water Protection Act and associated regulations.
- Investigating and addressing Public Health Engineering challenges.
- Providing specialized engineering advice to various stakeholders regarding environmental health issues.
- Delivering professional assistance to tackle community environmental health concerns.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in water management, waste disposal, or environmental oversight related to public health, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Must be a Registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

Essential Skills & Competencies

In-depth understanding of health engineering principles related to water management, waste disposal, and recreational water facilities. Strong leadership and management capabilities. Exceptional communication skills suitable for diverse audiences, including public presentations. Ability to foster effective relationships and work autonomously. Proficient in interpreting technical documents and utilizing relevant software and equipment. Physically capable of performing job responsibilities.
