We are in search of an Engineer to join our dedicated Hydraulic and Water Resources Team in Vancouver, contributing to the planning and design of infrastructure initiatives and hydropower systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop drainage strategies and create hydrologic and hydraulic models for various projects including roads, highways, railways, land development, and transit.
  • Participate in the design of stormwater management systems, including storage solutions, Low Impact Development (LID) designs, storm sewer systems, and hydraulic grade line assessments, while assisting in the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address drainage needs for projects.
  • Conduct field evaluations related to the design and construction of civil engineering projects.
  • Support design tasks and the creation of engineering drawings pertaining to drainage and stormwater management.
  • Assist in the design of overflow weirs, intake structures, and canals.
  • Conduct hydrological assessments for watershed management.
  • Familiarize yourself with various codes and regulations governing river management, culvert sizing, riprap, and dykes.
  • Perform studies related to river hydraulics, including hydrological assessments, design flow determinations, sediment transport analyses, and floodplain mapping.
  • Utilize specialized software to model and simulate the hydraulics of watercourses and hydraulic structures (1D, 2D, and 3D).
  • Design hydraulic structures such as spillways, retention basins, canals, bridges, culverts, and penstocks.
  • Conduct dam safety evaluations.
  • Assess the implications of climate change on various infrastructures.
  • Estimate quantities for construction estimates in alignment with standardized methodologies and established specifications.
  • Assist in proposal development and business growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or a postgraduate degree in Water Resources.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in water resources, ideally within an engineering consulting context.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, particularly HEC-RAS.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
