Position Overview: In line with our growth strategy, our office in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Senior Technical Lead/Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the execution of significant new wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations.

The ideal candidate will be a registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for registration within 12 months) with a minimum of 10 years of experience specifically in water and/or wastewater infrastructure engineering and construction management.

You will collaborate within a team of intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced wastewater treatment and large pumping station projects for our clientele in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and construction phases of upgrades or expansions to water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment facilities, as well as the design of new water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Design mechanical systems related to lift stations, pump stations, and other equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.
  • Manage construction phases to ensure projects are completed in compliance with contract specifications, on schedule, and within budget; effective construction management and supervision are critical aspects of this role.
  • Maintain a strong focus on job safety at all times.
  • Provide regular project progress updates to clients and AECOM management.

Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and sound judgment in anticipating and addressing both routine and complex project delivery, technical, and client challenges. This includes determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for technical activities.

Engage actively in the technical execution of client assignments to ensure successful project outcomes.
Prepare technical memoranda, planning studies, and design reports;
Ensure that project work adheres to corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience collaborating with geographically dispersed project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary project teams across multiple offices and countries.
  • Experience in developing and reviewing design drawings for wastewater infrastructure projects, including hydraulic profiles, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including relevant PM certifications.
  • Strong technical expertise in the design of wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations, with a record of serving as Engineer-of-Record for pertinent reference projects.
