Position Overview

The Relief System Operator (RSO) is an integral member of the System Control Centre (SCC) Operating team. The primary responsibility of the RSO is to provide relief for the System Operator. This role requires shift work according to established schedules. When not engaged at the System Control Centre, the incumbent may be assigned to various departments.

The Relief System Operator reports to a designated staff supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire and execute the responsibilities of the System Operator.
  • Perform tasks typically assigned to a lower classification employee.
Qualifications
  • NERC certification is required.
  • A diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology is necessary.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage stress effectively, particularly during emergencies. Must interact courteously with the public via telephone and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated potential and intent to advance to higher classifications within the Control Centre.
Additional Information

The salary range, based on progression to System Operator, is $49.80 to the established salary schedule.

This position entails on-call/standby responsibilities based on operational requirements. The successful candidate must comply with residency requirements for this role. Additionally, there may be overtime obligations based on operational needs.
