Position Overview

As a Preschool Education Specialist, you will play a crucial role in nurturing the growth and development of young children in a supportive environment. This permanent position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week and is conducted in English.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: Previous experience is considered an asset.
Work Environment

Your work will primarily take place in an outdoor setting at a child care centre, providing a unique opportunity to engage with children in a natural environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care for infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Engage children through storytelling and interactive activities.
  • Support early childhood educators in implementing programs that foster children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Lead educational activities such as reading stories, teaching songs, and organizing excursions.
  • Assist in maintaining records and documentation related to children's progress.
  • Encourage proper habits in children regarding eating, dressing, and toilet use.
  • Prepare nutritious snacks and arrange spaces for meals and rest.
  • Monitor children for any signs of learning or behavioral challenges and report findings.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's development and strategies for improvement.
  • Establish and uphold behavior guidelines to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and community service providers to enhance children's experiences.
  • Design and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Organize activities for school-age children in before and after school programs.
Certifications

Possession of a Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1) certification is required.

A criminal record check is mandatory for this position.

Transportation

Having own transportation is necessary for commuting.
