Job Title: Preschool Mental Health Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Preschool Mental Health Consultant to join our team at the Early Childhood Mental Health Program. As a Preschool Mental Health Consultant, you will provide culturally sensitive mental health consultation services to children birth to five, within Head Start Preschools across Contra Costa County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide mental health consultation services to preschool and daycare directors, site supervisors, teachers, and families to assist young children who are exhibiting behavioral difficulties or who seem to need additional support in engaging with peers and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with preschool and daycare staff to develop and implement strategies to support children's social-emotional development and address behavioral challenges.
  • Conduct home visits and provide support to families to promote healthy child development and address mental health concerns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and agencies to provide referrals and support to families.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, social welfare, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Five years' experience working in a preschool or daycare setting and/or providing therapy services to young children and their families.
  • Holder of a California driver's license in good standing and access to a reliable automobile with the legally required minimum insurance coverage.
  • Must submit to fingerprinting and be cleared by the California Department of Justice and the FBI for criminal and child abuse background checks.
Preferred Skills:
  • Master's Degree
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish
