About the Role

The Adult Community Services Spruce Grove, Leduc, and Sherwood Park is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing emotional and social support to individuals and families navigating addiction and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide interventions and supports that are complementary to the work of a multi-disciplinary outreach team.
  • Share your lived experience and recovery story to inspire hope and promote resilience in clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve outcomes for individuals and their families.
  • Advocate for client needs and support an integrated and resiliency/recovery-oriented healthcare experience.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Lived experience supporting a loved one with an addiction and/or mental health concern.
  • Ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, including conflict management and resolution.
  • Ability to tolerate regular twisting and reaching, repetitive hand movements, keyboarding, and telephone handling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a related or relevant program, such as social work or addiction certification.
  • A strong awareness of community resources and recovery models.
