Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to assist the Commonwealth of Virginia in achieving Tier 2 operational authority in both Information Technology (IT) and Procurement. This is a unique opportunity to join a team dedicated to implementing a strategic vision and driving progress towards a major initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the project team to interpret and track timelines related to the Virginia Acts of Assembly-2008 Session, Chapter 824.
  • Develop and implement a project plan to achieve Tier 2 operational authority in IT and procurement.
  • Schedule meetings and develop agendas to ensure timely progress and effective communication among team members.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including the project team, RBC staff, and college communications and marketing staff, to provide informational materials and updates on project progress.
  • Use an enterprise project management tool to track team progress, deadlines, budget, milestones, and other project-related activities.
  • Write progress reports for the President, Cabinet, and BOV, and prepare presentations for the Tier 2 team.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable SCHEV guidance and the 2005 Performance Restructuring Act.
  • Knowledge of applicable VA Codes (Title 23 Chapter 10) regarding Higher Education Tier requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of project management and/or project coordination principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading strategic direction and project plan development.
  • Ability to understand or learn basic IT and auditing concepts, including Virginia IT procurement laws, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience and knowledge of using project management tools to track project goals, objectives, milestones.
  • Ability to communicate consistently and clearly with the project team and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead a college IT, business, and procurement project team dedicated to achieving Tier 2 status.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Virginia Higher Education Tier 2 process, legislation, and documents and evidence needed for Tier 2.
