Position Overview

  • Drafts and interprets reinsurance agreements, modifications, and associated documents, including policy templates, letters of intent, and pricing files.
  • Aids in general business analysis and compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluates reinsurance agreements, modifications, and policy templates; collaborates with other departments (Accounting, Reinsurance Operations, Corporate Actuarial, etc.) by providing timely interpretations and research on treaties.
  • Engages with clients, either directly or through client managers, to draft new agreements and modifications; facilitates internal approvals for new agreements and modifications as necessary; oversees the process to ensure consistency across agreements.
  • Assists in maintaining Munich Re's treaty templates in both English and French, documenting any deviations from the standard template.
  • Collaborates with legal advisors to develop suitable contract language.
  • Ensures that Munich Re's internal treaty log is current, documenting any deviations from standard wording; generates periodic management reports related to treaties.
  • Reviews home office guidelines concerning treaty language (and other risk/compliance matters as required); ensures ongoing adherence to home office guidelines; participates in various local and/or global Munich Re initiatives involving treaty and related data management.
  • Supports compliance efforts as needed, including documenting internal controls.
  • Assists with general business analysis and project management as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Law, English, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in life (re)insurance.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with living benefits products is considered advantageous.
  • Experience with reinsurance treaties is regarded as beneficial.
  • Technical writing experience is preferred.
  • Strong time management abilities and capacity to handle competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • FLMI designation is preferred.
