About the Role

The Senior Treaty Underwriter will be responsible for managing all aspects of property and casualty treaty underwriting for Canadian insurers, reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer. This role involves travel to visit with clients in Canada and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and structure treaty reinsurance programs in accordance with SCOR guidelines.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, contract wording, and pricing with clients.
  • Perform underwriting audits at current and potential clients.
  • Manage the overall SCOR relationship with clients, including market development and client events.
  • Record all documentation and ensure compliance with SCOR guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, with primary underwriting and/or reinsurance brokerage experience.
  • Underwriting education or experience, financial, actuarial, economic, or risk management background.
  • Proven leadership abilities and excellent analytical skills.
  • Solid negotiation and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Bilingual in French is preferred.
