Position Overview

  • Responsible for drafting and interpreting reinsurance treaties, amendments, and associated documentation, including policy forms, letters of intent, and pricing files.
  • Provides support for general business analysis and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluates reinsurance treaties, amendments, and policy forms; collaborates with various departments (Accounting, Reinsurance Operations, Corporate Actuarial, etc.) to deliver timely treaty interpretations and research.
  • Engages with clients, either directly or through client managers, to draft new treaties and amendments; facilitates necessary internal approvals for new treaties and amendments, ensuring consistency throughout the process.
  • Assists in maintaining Munich Re's treaty templates in both English and French, documenting any deviations from the standard template.
  • Collaborates with legal advisors to formulate appropriate contract language.
  • Ensures the internal treaty log at Munich Re is current, documenting any exceptions to template language; generates periodic management reports related to treaties.
  • Reviews home office guidelines concerning treaty language and other risk/compliance matters; ensures ongoing adherence to home office guidelines; participates in various local and/or global Munich Re initiatives related to treaty and associated data management.
  • Provides assistance with compliance tasks as required, including the documentation of internal controls.
  • Supports general business analysis and project management as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Law, English, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in life (re)insurance.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with living benefits products is advantageous.
  • Experience with reinsurance treaties is a plus.
  • Preferred background in technical writing.
  • Excellent time management abilities and capacity to handle competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • FLMI designation is preferred.
