Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist III - Quality and Safety Technical Lead is a leadership role that advances professional practice for the Respiratory Therapy discipline to support excellence in patient and family centered health care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and address recalls related to respiratory equipment.
  • Evaluate new equipment and recommend purchases to ensure alignment with provincial standards.
  • Provide provincial input into standardization of evidence-based practices and introduce quality safety initiatives related to respiratory equipment.
  • Support the Respiratory Therapy Managers by functioning as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with expert clinical and technical knowledge to provide education, assess practice needs, lead quality improvement initiatives, and support research and development.
  • Deliver and develop sustainable quality improvement with a focus on safe patient care.
Requirements
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
  • Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Successful completion of the CBRC exam and current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta.
  • Current BLS certification from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • Minimum three years of current adult acute and critical care experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant Baccalaureate preparation.
  • Experience in providing adult education.
  • Previous educator background.
  • CSRT registration.
  • Previous experience in the development of evidence-based practice standards and the development and maintenance of quality assurance and quality control programs.
