About the Role:

The Respiratory Therapist III - Quality and Safety Technical Lead is a key position within Alberta Health Services, responsible for advancing professional practice for the Respiratory Therapy discipline. This role supports excellence in patient and family-centered healthcare by providing technical support, addressing recalls, evaluating new equipment, and recommending equipment purchases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support and guidance to Respiratory Therapy staff
  • Addressing equipment recalls and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Evaluating new equipment and recommending purchases to support quality patient care
  • Developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives related to respiratory equipment
  • Collaborating with Respiratory Therapy Managers to advance professional practice and support research and development

Requirements:

  • Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta
  • Current BLS certification from the Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Minimum three years of current adult acute and critical care experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant Baccalaureate preparation
  • Experience in providing adult education
  • Previous educator background
  • CSRT registration
  • Previous experience in the development of evidence-based practice standards and quality assurance and quality control programs
