Job Title: RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist

Providence Health Care is seeking a highly skilled RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist to join our team at St. Paul's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional care to patients with complex psychiatric needs.

Job Summary:

The RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist will work in our Acute Behavioural Stabilization Unit (ABSU), providing comprehensive care to patients with acute psychiatric needs. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide direct nursing interventions for crisis and life-threatening situations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Document patient information and progress
  • Participate in nursing orientation and share clinical knowledge with other staff
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Two years' recent psychiatric nursing experience in a tertiary care emergency department or acute psychiatric experience in a tertiary care facility or mental health facility
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
