Location: Timmins, ON

Objective:
Deliver technical expertise to surface operations (including Hollinger and Pamour Open Pits) by formulating data-driven strategic plans (physical outputs and related costs), monitoring adherence to plans, and evaluating the implications of any deviations from established strategies.

Safety and Sustainability Responsibilities:
  1. Become well-versed in all facets of the Fatality Risk Management and conduct inspections, job, and task observations to ensure adherence to Fatality Risk Management safety protocols.
  2. Maintain a proactive stance on safety. Identify and rectify hazards as they arise.
  3. Take responsibility for personal health and safety performance as well as the wellbeing of colleagues in the workplace.
  4. Comply with the critical control verification process on site.
  5. Adhere to operational procedures, design checklists, Occupational Health and Safety Act; company policies, and fulfill all regulatory obligations.
  6. Actively engage in team safety meetings/discussions, contributing insights based on observations and experiences to ensure designs incorporate mitigation measures/controls for all foreseeable risks.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop surface operation production plans spanning 3 months to 2 years in alignment with the approved budget utilizing Deswik scheduling tools based on data-driven production forecasts.
  2. Determine headcount and equipment hours necessary to meet forecasts to support cost model updates in XERAS, collaborating with technical team cost analysts and Asset Management teams.
  3. Effectively convey forecast assumptions, plans, physical outputs, and equipment resources to all stakeholders, emphasizing critical tasks to ensure operations remain aligned with forecasts and budget metrics. Include SWOT analysis for forecasts.
  4. Regularly update production and equipment metrics (utilizing MineStar data) to identify trends in historical data and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  5. Monitor compliance with plans for the following purposes:
    1. Understand any variances and their impact on one-month and three-month plans.
    2. Identify opportunities for performance enhancement.
    3. Recognize threats/risks to be mitigated for successful outcomes.
  6. Create insightful charts, figures, or graphs of analyzed data to highlight areas for potential improvement, justifying recommendations for strategic adjustments.
  7. Conduct regular meetings with the Mine Engineering Coordinator to review short-term performance trends and document insights for incorporation into future forecasts.
  8. Analyze spatial and physical compliance data, along with demonstrated equipment metrics, at the end of each quarter and present findings in a Post Mortem report.
  9. Perform other supporting tasks as directed by the Technical Services Superintendent.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Completion of a post-secondary education program in mine technology/engineering or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 8 years of experience in the mining sector, with at least 3 years in mine planning.
  3. Experience in mine design and scheduling is essential, with a preference for candidates familiar with Deswik.
  4. Ability to manage workloads and adjust priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  6. Proficient analytical skills with Excel are required.
Working Conditions:
This is a site-based role supporting operations in Timmins.

The work schedule consists of 4 days on and 3 days off. Relocation may be necessary for candidates not residing in the area.
