Location: Timmins, ON

Role Overview: The Long Term Planning Engineer plays a crucial role in the development of reliable and innovative mine plans. This position is integral to the centralized operating model, reporting to the Senior Long Term Planning Lead. The engineer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive underground long-term mine planning work packages, with potential involvement in open-pit planning as well.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrate strong leadership in promoting health, safety, security, and environmental programs.
  2. Collaborate with various site functions to establish planning and design parameters.
  3. Generate precise and timely Long Term Planning work packages, including:
    1. Estimating reserves and resources, along with annual reporting.
    2. Creating strategic mine plans and scenario options for business planning.
    3. Developing documentation for the multi-year Life of Asset plan in partnership with site mine planning teams.
    4. Designing and scheduling long-term supporting facilities.
    5. Planning infrastructure for the entire asset lifecycle.
    6. Assisting in reclamation and closure planning.
    7. Conducting economic evaluations for development and stoping layouts.
    8. Implementing standard procedures and best practices in Long Term Mine Planning.
    9. Collaborating with site teams to ensure an integrated Life of Asset Business Plan.
    10. Engaging with geology and geotechnical engineers, mine operations, and subject matter experts.
    11. Supporting site projects and strategic initiatives.
    12. Contributing to unit cost development and analysis.
    13. Building trust with key stakeholders across various site functions.
    14. Applying diverse engineering techniques based on underground mining experience.
Qualifications:
  1. B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or equivalent is required; P.Eng. qualification is preferred.
  2. Experience in various mine planning horizons, particularly in large, diversified mining operations.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Self-motivated with excellent facilitation and presentation abilities.
  5. Proficient in mine planning software, especially Deswik; knowledge of Geovia Whittle is advantageous.
  6. Understanding of unit costing methods and financial analysis.
  7. Ability to visualize complex problems and develop solutions.
Working Conditions:
  1. Position based at Porcupine Gold Mines.
  2. Standard schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off.
  3. May require access to various mining and processing areas.
  4. Frequent computer-based work.
  5. Awareness of cultural differences within the operations.
