About the Role

Newmont Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join our team in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our surface operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our surface operations, including the Hollinger and Pamour Open Pits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop data-driven strategic plans for surface operations, including physicals and associated costs.
  • Track compliance to plans and assess the impacts of any variance to plans.
  • Provide technical support to the surface operations team, including generating production plans and equipment metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Mine Engineering Coordinator to discuss short-term performance trends and document learnings.
  • Analyze spatial and physical compliance data, as well as demonstrated equipment metrics, at the end of each quarter.
  • Deliver findings in a Post Mortem presentation.
Requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary education program in mine technology/engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in the mining industry with 3 years in mine planning.
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling is essential, with a preference for individuals who have used Deswik.
  • Strong analytical skills with Excel is required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work with others.
Working Conditions

This is a site-based position supporting our Timmins operation.

The work schedule is 4 days on 3 days off. As such, if you do not live in the area, relocation is required.
