Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Professional to provide exceptional care and support to children in our resource unit. Your primary responsibility will be to create a nurturing and safe environment that fosters the well-being and development of each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and guidance to children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Develop and implement engaging activities that promote learning, exploration, and social interaction.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, fostering healthy eating habits in the children.
- Assist children with personal hygiene routines, promoting independence and self-care.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, routines, and interests, contributing to their overall development plan.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
Work Environment
This role requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be working in a dynamic environment, often independently or as part of a small team. Shifts may vary, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the children.
Qualifications and Skills
- A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to their well-being.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in caregiving.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including database programs.
Education and Experience
A Child Care Worker or Child & Youth Worker Diploma or higher is preferred. Previous experience working in a group home setting or similar child care environment is an asset.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and have access to a vehicle with an OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and minimum of $1,000,000 Liability.
- Satisfactory internal record check.
- Satisfactory Criminal record check (including vulnerable sector).
- Satisfactory driver's abstract.
