The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is in search of a full-time Lead Systems Analyst to join our dynamic IT Services (ITS) Department as part of the Client Technology (CT) Team. Our department is dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our students, faculty, and staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.

The Lead Systems Analyst will play a crucial role in managing client relationships and overseeing the services provided by the Endpoint Services (ES) group within the CT team. This position entails coordinating assignments, administration, and serving as a subject matter expert within the group. The analyst will collaborate closely with the Manager to ensure effective resource allocation and coverage for operational tasks and projects within the ES group and across the ITS.

In this role, the Lead Systems Analyst will monitor and report on ongoing activities, escalating any unresolved issues or concerns to management. They will work with the team to identify potential risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation, contribute to budget discussions, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
Coordination:
  • Aligning activities with CT groups and other ITS teams.
  • Collaborating with project managers and business analysts to integrate operational activities with ongoing projects.
  • Coordinating resources within the ES group for effective daily operations.
Operational:
  • Serving as the technical lead for services offered by Endpoint Services.
  • Performing tier 1 through 3 operational tasks as necessary.
Facilitation:
  • Leading meetings, workshops, or training sessions related to operational functions.
  • Acting as a mediator to resolve conflicts during planning and execution.
Planning:
  • Collaborating with the ES group to create comprehensive operational plans with clear goals and timelines.
  • Identifying and allocating necessary resources for operational support.
  • Developing contingency plans to address potential operational disruptions.
Verification:
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks on operational processes.
  • Reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational effectiveness.
Documentation:
  • Maintaining detailed records of operational activities, including plans and progress reports.
  • Documenting lessons learned and best practices for future reference.
Communication:
  • Ensuring regular communication with stakeholders regarding operational status.
  • Sharing relevant information promptly and transparently.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identifying opportunities for process enhancements within operational activities.
  • Implementing changes to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Conducting evaluations post-activity to gather feedback for future improvements.
Risk Management:
  • Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitoring risks throughout the year and adjusting plans as needed.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensuring all operational activities meet relevant regulations.
  • Preparing reports for management review.
Team Leadership:
  • Leading a team of analysts responsible for operational execution.
  • Providing guidance and support to team members for successful outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Diploma from an Institute of Technology or Bachelor's Degree in science or business.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience in an IT environment, including two years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong supervisory skills in a complex environment.
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with IT Service Management software.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft, Apple, mobility, and virtualization technologies.
  • Conflict resolution skills and experience in developing standards and processes.
  • A valid driver's license.
