Given the sensitive nature of our work, all personnel must meet specific security requirements, and only candidates who are Canadian citizens, possess PR status, or hold citizenship from a NATO country will be considered.

Position Overview

The Senior Navigation Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering engineering support for the integration and troubleshooting of OSI's navigational products, both in-house and at client locations. The role involves assembling, conducting quality assessments, installing, configuring, servicing, and repairing OSI products and navigational systems for our global clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional demeanor and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Install and commission navigation systems at client sites across various regions.
  • Diagnose and rectify hardware assembly issues, as well as software configuration, network, and integration challenges.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering and Software Testing teams to design and implement system test environments that support product development and project needs.
  • Actively assist the Training team in creating and delivering technical training for clients on system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Occasionally organize and oversee team tasks and activities pertinent to the role.
  • Provide technical support via email and telephone through the OSI Support team.
  • Engage with OEMs to discuss technical issues related to the setup and configuration of sensors and equipment.
  • Offer Service Engineering support and guidance to internal teams in resolving technical challenges.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping in compliance with service procedures.
  • Produce and maintain all necessary documentation in line with company standards and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Conduct all required testing for relevant products, maintaining the necessary documentation in company databases.
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings and documentation, forwarding corrections to the appropriate department.
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineering department to create or edit as-built drawings and documentation as needed.
  • Utilize provided software and firmware tools to diagnose issues, configure, and update OSI navigation subsystems and systems.
  • Evaluate software and firmware tools for updates and enhancements to OSI's service capabilities.
  • Ensure that all tools, equipment, materials, and documentation required for each task are in optimal condition.
  • Adhere to all applicable employment, environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional project-related tasks as directed by the Service Supervisor and Supportability Manager.

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in Engineering or a related field, or a diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, preferably within the military sector; experience delivering complex support solutions to government or military clients is advantageous.
  • Skills: At least 5 years of practical experience in a Service Engineering environment, ideally in marine electronics; familiarity with building and troubleshooting computer systems, radar, and electronic sensors is beneficial. Knowledge of navigation products is a plus. Strong understanding of electronic systems and Windows operating systems; working knowledge of system networks and software scripting; excellent customer relations, prioritization, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills; detail-oriented; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Understanding of communication and data transfer standards is essential. Previous experience and willingness to train other technicians, both internal and external, is an asset.
  • Other: Willingness to travel (valid passport required) and a commitment to continuous learning of new procedures and techniques; must meet and maintain security clearance requirements as applicable and be prepared to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill the role's objectives.
