LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, a proud Canadian entity with extensive experience, offers laboratory testing services that assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and preventing diseases in patients. We are currently in search of a Medical Lab Assistant.

As a Medical Lab Assistant, you will be integral to the testing and diagnostic procedures for a diverse patient population. This is a Part-Time (Evenings) position. LifeLabs also provides first aid training, ongoing educational opportunities, and excellent prospects for career advancement.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Unpacking and categorizing a wide array of incoming specimens from various sources, including healthcare providers and mobile technicians.
  • Verifying the accuracy of patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, addressing any discrepancies before testing, and performing necessary data entry.
  • Preparing, sorting, and separating specimens for technical evaluation.
  • Responding to client inquiries and collaborating with the logistics department.
  • Training and orienting new team members.
  • Conducting routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with all laboratory safety and security protocols.

The ideal candidate for this role is an organized and detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving and customer service abilities. Key attributes include flexibility, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail. Additional requirements are:

  • Successful completion or graduation from a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and prioritizing tasks.
  • Proficiency in data entry and computer skills.
  • Commitment to staying updated with company practices, training, policies, and procedures.
  • Prior experience in laboratory operations or familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external departments.
  • Capacity to uphold the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation range has been established, but the final salary will be determined based on experience, educational qualifications, market conditions, and internal equity.
