Are you seeking a rewarding role where you can contribute positively? LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, a proud Canadian organization with extensive experience, offers laboratory testing services that assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and preventing diseases. We are currently in search of a Medical Lab Assistant.
As a Medical Lab Assistant, you will be integral to the testing and diagnostic processes for a diverse patient population. This is a Regular Part-Time position. LifeLabs provides first aid training, ongoing educational opportunities, and excellent prospects for career advancement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Unpacking and organizing a variety of incoming specimens from sources such as physicians, clinics, and hospitals.
- Verifying the accuracy of patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, addressing any discrepancies before testing, and performing necessary data entry.
- Preparing, sorting, and separating specimens for technical analysis.
- Responding to client inquiries and collaborating with the logistics department.
- Training and orienting new team members.
- Conducting routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with all laboratory safety and security protocols.
The ideal candidate for this position is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong problem-solving and customer service skills. Key attributes include flexibility, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail. Additional requirements include:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is preferred.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Proficient in data entry and computer usage.
- Previous experience in laboratory operations or familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Effective communication with internal and external departments.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

The compensation range has been established, but the final salary will be determined based on experience, educational background, market conditions, and internal equity.
