Position Overview
LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is a proud Canadian organization with extensive experience in laboratory testing services that assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and preventing diseases. We are currently seeking a Medical Lab Assistant to contribute to our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and categorize a diverse range of incoming specimens from various sources, including healthcare professionals and clinics.
- Verify the accuracy of patient information on requisitions and samples, addressing any discrepancies before testing, and performing necessary data entry.
- Prepare, organize, and separate specimens for technical analysis.
- Address client inquiries and collaborate with the logistics department.
- Train and orient new staff members.
- Conduct routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and security protocols.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving and customer service skills. Key attributes include flexibility, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail. Additional qualifications include:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on prioritization and multitasking.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer operations.
- Previous experience in laboratory settings or familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.
- Strong teamwork capabilities.
- Effective communication skills with internal and external departments.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
