Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Medical Affairs, Coastal Community of Care to join our team at Lions Gate Hospital. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will provide senior-level leadership to the Coastal Community of Care Medical Affairs department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning
    • Develop and maintain excellent working partnerships and relationships with other members of the Senior Leadership Team and Medical Leadership.
    • Develop multi-year department objectives and annual plans, and oversee their implementation.
    • Provide leadership in the development of strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the effective management of Medical Affairs in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals of Vancouver Coastal Health.
  • Operational Management
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of Medical Affairs for the Coastal Community of Care.
    • Liaise with, foster exchange between, and support consistency with the Medical Affairs Administration team.
    • Lead and initiate all aspects of departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage the fiscal resources of the Coastal Community of Care Medical Affairs department.
    • Establish fiscal priorities, allocate resources, and prepare and oversee the annual operating budget and capital equipment requests.
  • Human Resources
    • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and Indigenous lens.
    • Practice the recognition, inclusion, and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing patient safety and quality across the health authority.
    • Create environments, processes, partnerships, and relationships that invite and demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, collegiality, and respect.
  • Communication and Engagement
    • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided.
    • Practice excellent communication and engagement skills with stakeholders, system partners, internal senior operational leads, diverse medical leaders, and their own team of directly accountable leaders and staff.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in a related discipline such as Health Care Administration or Business Administration.
  • At least ten (10) years' recent related experience in a senior administrative position within health care administration.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Demonstrated skills in being able to forge, build, maintain, where necessary, repair stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong business and political acumen, strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and systems insight to develop effective strategies and ensure support and attainment of both short and long-term goals.

  • Strong business acumen with a demonstrated skill in utilizing data to inform and drive deliberation and decision-making.
