Job Summary

Meridia Recruitment Solutions is partnering with Irving Oil to find an experienced audit professional to join their team as a Senior Internal Auditor. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading international refining and marketing company that values long-term partnerships and relationships.

About the Role

The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for executing multiple complex audit projects and driving change through risk identification and process improvement. This will involve developing relationships with stakeholders throughout the organization to monitor and improve internal controls, processes, and drive operating efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute audit plans, including risk assessments and audit procedures, to ensure effective risk management and internal control.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of internal controls, processes, and systems to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management and the audit committee.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality audit work.
  • Collaborate with the audit team and management to develop and implement process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education and a professional designation as a CIA or interest in obtaining it within a year of hire.
  • 5+ years of post-university work experience in internal audit or a related field.
  • Excellent working knowledge and application of International Professional Practice Framework of the IIA.
  • Strong relationship building skills, with experience in conflict resolution and a high integrity to conform with the IIA Code of Ethics and Irving's Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving capabilities who can identify risks, observations, and opportunities as well as provide solutions.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including ability to develop clear and concise written recommendations.
  • Proven ability in time management and ability to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines.
