Aecon is seeking a skilled Payroll Administrator to join our team in New Westminster, BC. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely payroll services to our unionized craft employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the CBA and its implications on payroll processing.
- Utilize electronic timecard software (HeavyJob) to accurately record and approve employee timecards.
- Provide training and support to project teams on payroll procedures and HeavyJob software.
- Coordinate timecard approvals and corrections with project teams.
- Ensure accurate and timely submissions of daily timecards via the BCIB contractor portal.
- Validate daily payable time reports and cross-check hours, premiums, and allowances against the BCIB agreement.
- Assist with validation of biweekly payroll invoices and provision of accurate details for quarterly WorkSafeBC submittals.
- Maintain tracking spreadsheets for cost reconciliation and provide payroll-related advice to project teams.
- Resolve payroll and invoicing discrepancies and participate in continuous improvement workshops.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably in a construction environment.
- Experience working with various unions and collective agreements.
- Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and relevant legislation.
- Related post-secondary education and professional payroll work experience within a construction environment preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office products and electronic timecard software (HeavyJob).
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
Aecon offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
