Job Summary
Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Clinical Resource Team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide holistic, quality, and safe care to patients within the scope of practice identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities as needed.
- Address and resolve issues in a productive and respectful manner, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and use best practice guidelines to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all patients and staff, adhering to patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, with a preference for recent graduates.
- Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a requirement for recent completion of a physical assessment course.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with a preference for recent experience in areas such as Medicine, Surgery, Complex Continuing Care, Palliative Care, Mental Health, and Woman and Child Program.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO), with a preference for recent nursing experience working as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care setting.
- Ability to speak a second language, with a preference for experience working with electronic medical records and familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
