The Opportunity

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Service offers specialized, family-centered care for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, whether congenital or acquired. The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for conducting clinical assessments, making diagnoses, providing interventions, and offering consultations for referred preschool-age children. Additionally, this role will involve assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of our dynamic Rehabilitation Service.

The Psychologist will be part of a pediatric psychology team that serves a diverse population of preschool children, including those with learning and physical disabilities. Our vibrant Discipline of Psychology comprises over 50 professionals dedicated to addressing a wide range of health and mental health needs.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 75 hours biweekly, with flexibility to accommodate workload demands.

Your Qualifications
  1. Ph.D/Psy.D. in a CPA/APA accredited Clinical Psychology program is required.
  2. Completion of a CPA/APA Pre-doctoral internship/residency is mandatory.
  3. Registered or eligible for registration with the NS Board of Examiners in Psychology.
  4. Formal supervised clinical training and experience in assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and consultation for preschool-age children with developmental disabilities is essential.
  5. A strong foundation in child development, learning theory, and the clinical application of cognitive behavioral and behavioral interventions with children with disabilities is required.
  6. Proven ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans to foster positive adaptive behaviors, independence, and skill development in preschool-aged children.
  7. Demonstrated leadership in the development and evaluation of evidence-based health services.
  8. Experience in providing team-based interdisciplinary healthcare is necessary.
  9. Commitment to Family-Centered Care is essential.
  10. Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
  11. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  12. Experience in delivering psychological services to children in a rehabilitation context is an asset.
  13. Competencies in additional languages are advantageous.
  14. Knowledge of program-based care is beneficial.
