The Pediatric Rehabilitation Service offers specialized family-centered care for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, both congenital and acquired.

The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and consultation for referred preschool-age children, assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of this dynamic and evolving Rehabilitation Service.

The Psychologist will join a pediatric psychology group that serves a diverse range of preschool children, including those with learning and physical disabilities.

Our vibrant Discipline of Psychology includes over 50 members serving a wide array of health and mental health populations.

Our Child Health Program comprises psychologists and psychometrists who provide assessment and intervention services to various health-related populations, including children with autism spectrum disorders, learning disorders, feeding issues, challenges with compliance to medical procedures, and neurodevelopmental and genetic disorders.

The Discipline of Psychology at Nova Scotia Health and IWK hosts a CPA/APA accredited predoctoral residency in psychology and maintains strong academic relationships with teaching and research facilities in the Halifax region, including those associated with Dalhousie University.

Monday to Friday, 75 hours biweekly. Flexible to meet workload demands.
A Doctorate in a CPA/APA accredited Clinical Psychology program is required.
# Completion of a CPA/APA Pre-doctoral internship/residency is required.
# Registered or eligible for registration with the NS Board of Examiners in Psychology is required.
# Formal supervised clinical training and experience in assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and consultation for preschool-age children with developmental disabilities is required.
# Formal training and clinical experience conducting psychological and functional behavioral assessments and clinical diagnoses are required.
# Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement individualized treatment programs to promote positive adaptive behaviors, independence, and skill development in preschool-aged children is required.
# Strong background in child development, learning theory, and clinical application of cognitive behavioral and behavioral interventions with children with disabilities is required.
# Ability to participate in the clinical training activities of the Psychology Discipline, including the clinical supervision of practicum students and residents.
# Demonstrated leadership in developing and evaluating evidence-based health services is required.
# Demonstrated ability to provide team-based interdisciplinary health care is required.
# Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Family-Centered Care is required.
# Experience in providing psychological services to children in a rehabilitation context is an asset.
# Competencies in other languages are an asset.
# Knowledge of program-based care is an asset.
