At IWK Health, we are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to children, youth, and families across the Atlantic region. Our Pediatric Rehabilitation Service focuses on delivering comprehensive, family-centered care for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, whether congenital or acquired. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a vital role in conducting clinical assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and consultations for preschool-aged children referred to our service.

Joining our dynamic team means becoming part of a pediatric psychology group that addresses a wide range of needs for preschool children, including those with learning and physical disabilities. Our Discipline of Psychology comprises over 50 professionals committed to serving diverse health and mental health populations. Our Child Health Program includes specialists who provide assessment and intervention services for various health-related challenges, including autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting psychological assessments and formulating individualized treatment plans.
  2. Implementing evidence-based interventions to foster positive behavioral development.
  3. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
  4. Providing clinical supervision and training to practicum students and residents.
  5. Engaging in the evaluation and development of health services.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. A Ph.D./Psy.D. in a CPA/APA accredited Clinical Psychology program.
  2. Completion of a CPA/APA pre-doctoral internship/residency.
  3. Registration or eligibility for registration with the NS Board of Examiners in Psychology.
  4. Extensive clinical training and experience in assessment and intervention for preschool-aged children with developmental disabilities.
  5. Strong knowledge of child development and behavioral interventions.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
