About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Patient Attendant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Staff Nurse, this role is responsible for supporting patient care activities in their work area, including assisting in the movement and transportation of patients, cleaning equipment and work areas, and maintaining equipment and handling of sterile items.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Current certification in WHIMIS
  • Previous Patient Attendant experience an asset
  • Previous experience working in OR environment is preferable
  • Ability to respond quickly to unexpected situations and work effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to lift and move patients using proper body mechanics and/or lifting devices
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, with highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent Full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts rotate between 10A and 11A OR
  • Shifts are days and evenings and may include weekends
Compensation and Benefits

$21.69 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
