Job Summary:

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the production and distribution of blood components. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient production of blood components for patients across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process orders for blood components, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to hospitals and other customers.
  • Prepare and dispatch shipments of blood components, adhering to strict quality and safety protocols.
  • Operate computer terminals and automated equipment to manage inventory and track shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements:

  • One year of laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a regulated, manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including legible handwriting.
  • Superior multi-tasking skills required.
  • Ability to work with others effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions precisely.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Manual dexterity.
