About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant - Distribution to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations East team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the distribution of blood components to hospitals, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Prepare, produce, and modify blood components, maintaining proper storage and handling procedures.
  • Perform laboratory duties, including sorting banks, opening specimens, and recording results.
  • Receive and process orders, selecting and issuing blood components and fractionation products as required.
  • Prepare available inventory, issue and outdate counts of blood and components on a daily basis.
  • Participate in the preparation of donor samples for testing and the preparation of individual plasma units.
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary education and minimum 1 year laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Technical skills including MS Office and the ability to learn systems and programs as required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions precisely and prepare accurate records.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and stat holidays.
