Laboratory Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician with experience in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. This is a permanent position that will play a crucial role in supporting our research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and processing samples for GC-MS analysis.
• Operating and maintaining GC-MS instruments to analyze organic compounds.
• Providing general lab support, including washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and waste disposal.
• Calibrating, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting intermediate instruments.
• Compiling, verifying, and validating accurate data records.
• Meeting quality assurance and turn-around specifications.
• Following all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Interpreting and reporting analytical data.
• Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS.
• Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Assisting in the development and optimization of analytical methods.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in method development and validation.
  • Familiarity with other analytical techniques such as HPLC or NMR.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Work Environment:

This position requires a person to stand, sit, and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
