Director of Municipal Health Administration

Job Summary
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent seeks a highly experienced and skilled professional to fill the role of General Manager, Health and Human Services. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong understanding of municipal health administration, community services, and social services.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of health and human services to municipal residents, ensuring that programs and services meet the needs of the community.
- Manage a team of professionals responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health and human services programs.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of health and human services.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to health and human services.
- Manage a multi-million-dollar annual operating budget for the department, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
- Act as Chief Executive Officer for the Board of Health, ensuring that the Board's mandate is effectively met.
- Assume 'Acting CAO' duties when necessary, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to organizational excellence.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A post-graduate degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, public administration, health, or social sciences.
- A minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience in health and human services administration, including senior management experience.
- Supplementary training in children's services, public health, senior services, and social housing will be considered a significant advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Senior management experience in health and human services administration, with a preference for those familiar with municipal environments.
- Expertise in overseeing domains such as childcare, early years, recreation services, social services, public health programs, senior services, and social housing.
- Proficiency in negotiation, particularly concerning service and labour contracts.
- A proven track record in managing multi-million-dollar operating budgets effectively.
- Proficiency in administering service level contracts and their respective budgets.
- A history of collaborative work with different government levels and ministry groups.
