Senior Occupational Health and Disability Specialist

Join our team at Runnymede Healthcare Centre as a Senior Occupational Health and Disability Specialist. This temporary full-time position will be a great opportunity to promote workplace health, safety, and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess employees returning to work after illness and communicate their abilities to perform duties to managers.
  • Manage Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) claims and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Provide early intervention and regular hospital contact to support employees during their absence.
  • Develop and implement modified work plans to facilitate employee return to work.
  • Administer Long Term Disability documentation and protocols.
  • Support new staff with orientation on Occupational Health and Disability Management.
  • Participate in a team approach to prevent illness and injury in the workplace.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on Health and Safety issues.
  • Communicate with staff on Occupational Health issues and maintain confidentiality of employee health records.
  • Prepare reports on health and prevention issues and participate in hospital-wide committees.
Requirements:
  • Certificate in Disability Case Management required.
  • Five years of related experience in disability management.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and handling WSIB claims.
  • Sound knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, WSIB, and LTD processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows Operating System.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with all levels of the organization.
