Job Title: Disability Case Specialist

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a highly skilled Disability Case Specialist to join our Health, Safety & Wellness department. This is a full-time, 18-month contract position that will play a critical role in supporting CAMH employees experiencing non-occupational related illnesses or injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of claim administration, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, such as AODA, Employment Equity Act, Human Rights and Privacy legislation, HOODIP guidelines, and CAMH policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive, timely return to work outcomes, with a focus on duty to accommodate, safety, and a positive employee experience.
  • Respond to case issues objectively and tactfully, maintaining external linkages to best practices in disability case management.
  • Partner with the employee, manager, Human Resources partners, union, insurance provider, and Physician consultant to develop return-to-work plans that support employee recovery while maintaining CAMH operations and workflow.
Requirements:
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in absence disability claims management and return to work principles in a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policy interpretation, Human Rights legislation, and disability management principles.
  • Preferably possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Kinesiology, or one of the allied health/rehabilitation sciences.
  • Certification as a Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTW) is an asset.
