Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our Occupational Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing programs aimed at preventing employee illness and disability arising out of their employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness programs to prevent employee illness and disability
  • Conduct work site evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and physical demand analyses to identify areas for improvement
  • Provide education and training on musculoskeletal disorder prevention strategies for staff
  • Manage and coordinate MSD, Safety, and other relevant database and training programs
  • Collaborate with Ability Management Specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Assist in incident investigations and RTW planning processes
  • Plan and implement Wellness initiatives to improve staff physical and psychological health

Requirements

  • Masters or Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy or related profession
  • Member of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, Member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario or related professional body
  • Applied knowledge of MSD prevention and ergonomics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a unionized and non-unionized environment
