Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs

Questrade Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our government and regulatory affairs strategies to support our business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze parliamentary and political developments, legislative, policy, and regulatory changes at the federal and provincial levels.
  • Develop data and research products to support advocacy efforts and internal decision-making.
  • Support the Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs in developing and implementing our government and regulatory affairs strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement communications strategies to proactively influence, educate, and inform government and stakeholder audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to monitor our media share of voice and sentiment in relation to our GR engagement strategy.
  • Support the management of crisis/reputational issues and response when needed.
Requirements:
  • Subject matter expertise or industry experience working in regulated financial environments, financial services, housing, investments, and/or fintechs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-profile sensitive issues in a fast-paced environment and meet firm deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accurate documentation of events and discussions.
  • Excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills, remote team engagement skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Persuasive communications know-how with superior writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
  • Experience building and executing communications and strategic engagement plans to measurably raise awareness and strengthen corporate reputation with key policy makers and decision-makers.
  • University degree, college diploma, or equivalent work experience in law, public affairs, government relations, policy, communications, or journalism, political science, or a related subject area.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience including policy, intergovernmental/stakeholder relations work, and strategic communications work.
