The Faculty of Arts & Science is seeking applications for anticipated course offerings in the upcoming academic terms:

  1. IVCV: Indigenous Visual Arts (0.5 credit)
    COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides an introduction to the visual culture of Indigenous peoples across North America, focusing on Indigenous art and design from various geographical regions and cultural contexts from historical to contemporary times. Students will explore themes related to cultural significance, artistic techniques, materials, and aesthetic expressions, providing a comprehensive historical context that encompasses land, spirituality, representation, and colonial interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities related to teaching may include, but are not limited to: developing course outlines, preparing and delivering studio sessions inclusive of lectures, critiques, grading, mid-term assessments, and final evaluations; ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, as well as meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A terminal degree in art, design, or a related field and/or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Experience in post-secondary education is advantageous; relevant experience will also be considered.
  3. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
  4. Proven leadership and experience in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for students, staff, and faculty.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Sessional appointments are fixed-term contracts. Compensation is based on a per-course pay scale, with a salary level of $6 per 0.5 credit course, plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act. These positions are contingent upon budget approval and satisfactory enrollment levels.
