Anticipated Course Offerings
  1. VISA-3002: Feminist Art Studies (0.5 credit)
    • Format: In-Person
    • Schedule: Wednesdays, 11:50 AM - 2:50 PM

Course Overview: This course will explore the influence of feminist theory on the creation, interpretation, and display of art. Key topics will include the societal constructs of gender within art and visual culture, intersections of race, class, and sexual identity, the reassessment of craft practices, feminist contributions to installation and performance art, and contemporary feminist art on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities associated with this role may encompass course outline development, preparation and delivery of studio sessions, lectures, critiques, grading, and evaluations, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and academic requirements.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree in art, design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is advantageous, though relevant experience will also be considered. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful educational environment.

Employment Terms: Sessional appointments are fixed-term contracts. Compensation is based on a per-course pay scale, with a salary level of $6 per 0.5 credit course, plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act. These positions are contingent upon budgetary approval and enrollment levels.
