About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead CFX Artist to join our team at Reel FX Creative Studios. As a key member of our CFX department, you will work closely with our Supervisors to bring the Director's vision to life, focusing on fur and cloth simulation in our productions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of our current pipeline and techniques, ensuring seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.

• Provide expert training and guidance to new hires, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.

• Mentor and support artists in advancing their work, helping them achieve asset/shot approval and pushing the boundaries of their creativity.

• Collaborate with team members to provide advisory support, sharing expertise and best practices to drive project success.

Cloth Simulation:

• Prepare assets for cloth simulation, including creating cloth simulation rigs and defining baseline default parameters.

• Develop and lead the creation of complex cloth simulation rigs, exploring character cloth motion and defining parameters.

• Run realistic, stylized, and complex cloth shot simulations in a production environment, ensuring high-quality results.

• Perform corrective shapes and sculpting fixes for cloth simulation in shot, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

• Develop complex garments for use in shot work for Unreal Engine, leveraging its feature sets.

• Ingest, render, and QC cloth elements for Unreal Engine, ensuring seamless integration.

Fur Simulation:

• Procedurally groom hero-level and complex hair and fur using XGen, achieving realistic and stylized results.

• Discover new techniques to achieve groom direction in the most efficient and flexible way, sharing knowledge with the team.

• Prepare approved grooms for animation rigging, ensuring smooth collaboration.

• Prepare approved grooms for simulation, including creating fur simulation rigs for assets.

• Lead the development of fur simulation rigs, exploring character hair motion and defining parameters.

• Run realistic and stylized fur simulations in a production environment, pushing the boundaries of creativity.

• Ingest, render, and QC fur elements for Unreal Engine, ensuring high-quality results.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in film/animation/vfx, with a strong background in CFX and simulation.

• Degree/diploma in fine arts/computer science or equivalent experience, with a focus on CFX and simulation.

• Advanced to Expert knowledge of Maya and Unreal Engine, with expertise in feature sets such as collisions, chaos cloth, and Animation Sequencer.

• Knowledge of MEL, Python, C++ or other scripting languages is a plus, with experience in scripting and automation.

• A demo reel demonstrating abilities with shot breakdown, showcasing your expertise and creativity.
