Work Environment:
Founded by artists, Rodeo FX champions creativity, providing our team with the autonomy and resources necessary to produce exceptional work in a supportive atmosphere. While we require a minimum of three days in the studio, we offer flexible arrangements for the remaining days, promoting collaboration and a vibrant workplace culture.

Position Overview

The Flame Lead is responsible for executing intricate digital image composition tasks while providing support to the 2D artists within their project team. This role involves addressing inquiries, offering guidance, and facilitating solutions in a constructive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compositing a range of shots from simple to complex at various production stages, including pre-comps, lineups, 2D tracking, effects, keying, integration, and color correction;
  • Managing timelines and conducting online sessions with clients;
  • Resolving visual, artistic, and technical challenges or directing them to the appropriate departments;
  • Ensuring consistency in the final composition of visual effects shots;
  • Balancing creative and technical elements in each shot;
  • Integrating 2D and 3D components to create photorealistic images that align with Rodeo's high standards;
  • Collaborating closely with the VFX Supervisor and Production to devise creative and technical solutions that meet project specifications and deadlines;
  • Contributing to the development of specialized tools, testing them prior to integration, and ensuring comprehensive documentation;
  • Overseeing a team of artists on projects, exemplifying expert skills and a positive, solution-oriented approach;
  • In conjunction with production, planning and delegating tasks to team members based on their skills and project timelines;
  • Providing constructive feedback on artists' work to ensure quality and alignment with the client's vision;
  • Communicating promptly with the Production Team regarding workload and assisting in developing downtime plans;
  • Mentoring team members through training and knowledge sharing, including preparing training materials;
  • Participating in mid & post-mortem reviews and annual evaluations of artists;
  • Keeping the Production and project team updated on work status, issues, and potential solutions;
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and notifying the project team of any anticipated delays;
  • Staying informed about advancements in their specialty and exploring new methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Compositing Artist in the post-production or VFX sector;
  • Proficient in Flame software;
  • Familiarity with Nuke;
  • Knowledge of Shotgrid;
  • Strong understanding of photographic principles, including color, lighting, perspective, and composition;
  • Exceptional prioritization skills and adherence to deadlines;
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure while serving as a positive role model;
  • Candidate must be located in the Montreal area.
