About the Role:

The Lead FX Artist plays a pivotal role within Reel FX Creative Studios, responsible for managing sequences and overseeing the artists assigned to those sequences. As a key member of the leadership team, they contribute significantly to defining the quality and style of the show, working closely with the Effects Supervisor to achieve creative goals. Moreover, effective communication and collaboration with the pipeline team to address and resolve pipeline issues are integral aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:


• Train and mentor new hires in department standards, workflow, and techniques to ensure seamless integration into the team.

• Guide and advise artists in advancing their work towards asset/shot approval, providing constructive feedback and support.

• Collaborate with team members in an advisory role, sharing knowledge and expertise to resolve complex issues and improve workflow efficiency.

• Monitor and ensure that artists address notes, respect briefs, and meet deadlines, maintaining a high level of quality and productivity.

• Work closely with the supervisor to design and improve the workflow, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.

• Collaborate with the Pipeline team to resolve any issues, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.

• Communicate with the supervisor about any issues or potential problems, providing timely updates and recommendations.

• Utilize direct and procedural animation techniques to create a variety of effects, simulating natural phenomena and enhancing the visual appeal of the show.

• Maintain quality control with the team, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality and excellence.

• Create and compose 3D effects elements, working closely with the production team to achieve the desired look and feel.

• Develop and communicate animation timing for effects, ensuring seamless integration into the overall narrative.

• Work with the production team to create the desired look for the effect, collaborating on creative decisions and implementing changes as needed.

Requirements:


• Bachelor's degree in fine arts or animation, or equivalent experience in the field.

• Minimum of 4 years of production experience in film or television effects, with a strong understanding of 3D effects and simulation techniques.

• Thorough knowledge of Houdini and compositing experience, with the ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas effectively.

• Strong programming skills in Vex, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
