We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team at Nature Fresh Farms. As a key member of our Human Resources Department, you will play a vital role in supporting the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and ensuring the smooth operation of our workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation training for new employees, ensuring a seamless onboarding process.
  • Manage communication channels between the TFW Department and Guest Workers, maintaining accurate contact information and WhatsApp groups.
  • Administer LMIA applications, work permit extensions, and visa applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Guide management and supervisors through the progressive discipline process, drafting incident and warning reports as needed.
  • Record incidents, conduct investigations, and document meetings thoroughly, responding accordingly to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Support the compliance of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program by staying up-to-date on existing and new legislation.
  • Assist with collecting, verifying, and administering all documents required for Integrity audits, working closely with your manager.
  • Apply for contract renewals in Canada, work permits, and visa extensions, tracking applications and paperwork received.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for Guest workers, creating calendar events and informing workers about travel itineraries.
  • Review and assist with updating HR procedures, training materials, and SOPs, suggesting new procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Follow all procedures required, including pre-arrival and post-arrival processes, completing necessary documentation and administration.
  • Support employee inquiries and complaints, providing excellent customer service and acting as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Conduct ongoing departmental training as required, actively initiating and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor Guest Workers' related information using the Human Resource database, internal systems, and physical filing systems.
  • Support the TFW team in the rotative schedule to receive workers at arrival/departure points, often after normal working hours.
  • Be part of the rotative schedule to respond to after-hour calls, prioritizing matters that require attention and resolving issues accordingly.
  • Assist with administering payroll deductions, ensuring payroll deduction forms are completed if applicable.
  • Oversee and administer employee benefits programs, supporting health and safety practices and recommending modifications as needed.
  • Support the TFW Support Representative with Health Unit Housing Inspections, ensuring compliance with government requirements.
  • Assist in submitting maintenance work orders and tracking their completion.
  • On occasion, assist in reviewing weekly uniform invoices and documenting them on a spreadsheet to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide support with insurance claims and balance bills at the end of each month.
  • Provide translation services to different departments as needed.
  • Assist with company events, such as the Annual Christmas Party and Employee Appreciation Event.
  • Support identifying and addressing work-related or performance challenges to improve employee relations and work performance.
  • Assist and support with worker performance appraisal programs.
  • Monitor work orders and their completion, actively initiating and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years' HR experience, preferably with TFW Programs in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships of trust with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to analyze and solve problems and unforeseen complications.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle are required.
  • Availability to work Monday-Saturday, with after-hours work possible at times. Flexibility with work schedule is required, especially for special events and flight arrivals/departures.
Working Conditions:

The HR TFW Generalist works Monday – Friday, afterhours, holidays, and rotational on-call weekends as required.

Physical Requirements:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment, but some responsibilities require warehouse, greenhouse (temperatures vary from hot and humid to cold) and bunkhouse work.

Although this is an office role, the shift will require regular walking, sitting, and standing. Additionally, there will be occasional requirements for lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling throughout the day.

The TFW Minivan is available most of the time for the TFW Team to move from phase to phase, but on some occasions, members of the team will be requested to use their own vehicle.
