Indigenous Birth Support Specialist

Health Careers in Saskatchewan is seeking a skilled and compassionate Indigenous Birth Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Maternal Services department, you will provide emotional support, physical comfort, and assistance to women, their partners, and families during childbirth.
Key Responsibilities- Provide continuous emotional support and physical comfort to women, their partners, and families during childbirth.
- Act as a liaison to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Traditional Healers as desired by women and their families.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure culturally sensitive care.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities to promote cultural awareness and understanding.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance knowledge and skills in Indigenous cultural practices and birth support.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Birth Doula Program.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license, where required.
