Position Overview:
Altus Group is in search of a Senior Consultant who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Calgary tax team and overseeing client deliverables. This includes managing projects from initiation to final review by senior staff, as well as project management from task assignment to ensuring deliverables are met on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Intelligence: Contributes to ongoing market data research and industry insights, mentors junior staff on data collection methods, and leads efforts in data compilation for accessibility by all office personnel.
  • Collaboration: Works alongside peers to develop and enhance data analytics to identify market trends and boost consultant productivity.
  • Opportunity Identification: Utilizes insights from research, client interactions, and market events to identify potential opportunities for growth annually, either independently or in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Valuation & Assessment Analysis: Conducts equity analysis in relation to comparable assessments, understanding relevant legislation, and generates financial models for the valuation process.
  • Research Compilation: Prepares initial arguments and positions for individual properties and various property classes based on thorough research and analysis.
  • Property Inspections: Independently performs property inspections to verify assessed values and identify opportunities for assessment adjustments, gathering qualitative data for hearings and client reports.
  • Technical Supervision: Oversees the work of junior staff to ensure client deadlines are met, providing technical direction and reviewing reports and analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Preference for candidates with operational knowledge and experience in the energy sector, including oil & gas, electric power, and mining.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Economics; energy-focused education is preferred. Relevant industry experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation in good standing or equivalent EA in Quebec is mandatory.
  • Paralegal certification in Ontario is required for court representation.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, particularly in financial modeling using Tableau and Excel.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
