Job Summary:
Altus Group is seeking a Senior Consultant who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Calgary tax team and overseeing client deliverables. This includes managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that all work is reviewed by senior staff, as well as overseeing project management from work assignment to deliverable management and deadline adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Intelligence: Contributes to ongoing market data research and industry knowledge within the local office, mentoring junior staff on effective data collection methods and leading them in the organization of data for accessibility.
- Collaboration: Works alongside peers to develop and enhance data analytics aimed at identifying market trends and boosting consultant productivity.
- Opportunity Identification: Utilizes insights gained from research, client interactions, and market events to identify at least five potential opportunities annually for pursuit, either independently or in collaboration with senior staff, while leveraging market intelligence to expand revenues with existing clients.
- Valuation & Assessment Analysis: Conducts thorough analyses of equity concerning comparable assessments, taking into account governing legislation, and generates various financial models and analyses using established procedures/templates for the valuation process.
- Research Compilation: Prepares initial arguments and positions for individual properties and various property classes based on compiled research and analysis.
- Property Inspections: Independently performs all types of property inspections to verify assessed values, identify opportunities for assessment adjustments, and gather qualitative information for hearings and client reports, while proposing assessments and suggested actions.
- Technical Supervision: Oversees client work prepared by junior staff to ensure deadlines are met, providing technical direction and reviewing reports and analyses.
Key Qualifications:
- Preference for candidates with operational knowledge and experience in the energy sector: oil & gas, electric power, mining, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Economics; energy-focused education is preferred. Relevant industry experience may substitute for formal education.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
- Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation in good standing or equivalent EA in Quebec is required.
- Must possess a paralegal license in Ontario to participate in court proceedings.
- Strong understanding of property tax sector knowledge is essential.
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, particularly in financial modeling using Tableau & Excel.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
