Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Northern Health Authority. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage critically ill patients, including those requiring life-sustaining therapies
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-management
Requirements
  • Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant
  • Current certifications in Therapy and Blood Glucose Monitor and Ventilator
  • In-house Coronary Care Course Certificate or equivalent
  • One (1) year full-time recent experience in intensive care
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively
  • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and work independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special procedures and techniques, such as infusions of medications
  • Demonstrated competency in using equipment and supplies, such as Cardiac Monitors, Blood Pressure and Oxygen Saturation Monitors, and Electrocardiograph machines
