Food Services Worker at PHSA

The Food Services Worker role at PHSA encompasses a variety of tasks including meal preparation, cooking, and ensuring the accuracy of food orders for patients. Adhering to established recipes and production standards is crucial to uphold quality, serving temperatures, and portion control. Collaboration with culinary staff, supervisors, and management is essential as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meal items for patients such as beverages, snacks, salads, sandwiches, and specialized dietary needs.
  • Assemble meal trays according to the menu and ensure proper portioning of food items.
  • Deliver, collect, and manage meal service carts efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils, workspaces, and kitchen equipment.
  • Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, cutting, and preparing them for service.
  • Manage food storage and rotation processes, alerting management of low stock levels.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and uphold safety standards within the kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 10 education along with one year of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Certification in Food Safe Level 1.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively in a team and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in operating relevant kitchen equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Awareness of Indigenous Cultural Safety and principles of anti-racism.
  • Understanding of the social, economic, political, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities.

Work Schedule:

Shifts available Monday through Sunday from early morning to evening.
